Dene comes from a family of talented footballers (father Lex played at Alloa while Dene’s younger brother Jay is a highly rated prospect at Hibs) and his talent was spotted at an early age. At just 18 he made a £60,000 move from Raith Rovers to Sunderland. Since that move he has spent time at several Clubs both North and South of the border, culminating in a £30,000 move to Gretna. With the large squad at Gretna Dene found it difficult to establish himself in the first team, and having spent the first half of this season on loan at Stirling Albion (where he bagged 9 goals in 20 games) he made the move North on a free transfer. Able to play as an out and out striker or at right wing, Dene has a good understanding of the game and a desire to compete for every ball which makes him a welcome addition to the squad.
