Goals from Scott Boyd and Michael Gardyne helped Derek's team to make it 6 points out of 6 against local rivals Inverness Caledonian Thistle on Saturday. A crowd of over 5,500 - the largest for over two years at Victoria Park and equal to the total population of Dingwall - saw the Staggies get off to a lighting start which saw them two goals to the good inside 20 minutes. Firstly Boyd put an end to any debate over whether Scott Morrison's free kick had crossed the line before coming back off the underside of the bar by nodding the rebound emphatically into the back of the net, with Morrison again the provider 2 minutes later as his inch perfect cross picked out man of the match Michael Gardyne who doubled the lead. The home support had been boisterous from the start and the goals only added to the atmosphere and with a noisy support behind them County were unlucky not to go further clear before the break. The crowd kept the noise going all the way through the second half and despite a late consolation goal for Caley from Adam Rooney (who put in the rebound after Michael McGovern had saved his penalty kick) County never really looked like losing.
Once again, as in the first victory in Inverness, County's fans played a huge part in helping the team to victory and the Club would like to thank the supporters for playing their part as the twelfth man. |
