A book on Ross County and the club's remarkable run in the Scottish Cup competition of 2009-10 is scheduled for publication within the next few weeks.
Ross County: From Highland League to Hampden, published by Birlinn, was written by journalist and broadcaster Frank Gilfeather and focuses mainly on key County figures and important games over the decades.
"I decided only three weeks or so before the cup final that this was a story that should be told," said Gilfeather." It's an astonishing rise for a football club; from competing in the Highland League to reaching
the Scottish Cup final, all achieved within 16 years.
"There are interviews with players of yesteryear, including members of the famous team that faced Rangers in a Scottish Cup-tie at Victoria Park in 1966 then went on to win the Staggies' first Highland League title the following year.
"But it was just as important for me to involve the fabulous County supporters who came together from all over the world for that memorable day - 15 May 2010 -and the cup final against Dundee United.
Many of their stories and pictures are in the book."
Ross County: From Highland League to Hampden will be published soon and will be available through Ross County FC and other outlets.
A date for the book's launch and a signing event with the author will be announced soon. |
