Below is an overview of the range
of school based activity the Community Department carry
out.
School Visits

Park Primary School with the
Ross County Players
The school visits programme is
about much more than simply kicking a ball. RCFC Community
Department use football as a vehicle to create a captive audience
of youngsters allowing them to learn not only about football but
about other important life skills such as communication, teamwork,
coordination and rhythm. By encouraging children to work together
the Community Department can get the best out of their group
leaving them with skills which can be utilised both on the football
pitch and back in the classroom. Each programme is carefully
aligned with the current Curriculum for Excellence, making its use
within a school environment invaluable, not only to pupils, but to
teachers as well.

Lunch Time/After School
Club
Lunch time in school can be a tough
time for youngsters, whether they are being bullied or they just
don't know how to interact with classmates out of the classroom.
This is why the Community Department have introduced lunch time and
after school visits. The aim is to use football as a fun and
friendly way to help pupils interact with classmates and understand
the benefits of teamwork whilst also encouraging them to lead an
active lifestyle. Head teachers who have come to RCFC Community
Department with concerns over pupil's behaviour during their lunch
break have noticed an immediate difference following the lunch time
and after school visits.
Food Standards
The Food Standard project is a 6
week programme delivered during school hours to Primary 4 children.
The aim of the programme is to encourage healthy eating whilst
allowing them to enjoy a kick around on the pitch. The children
will participate in an hour of coaching and then be asked questions
on their food standards booklet which will have received at the
start of the 6 week programme.
