A left footed strike from Andy Barrowman on 27 minutes was
enough to secure the Staggies three valuable points against high
flying Falkirk.
Ross County headed South without the injured Scott Boyd; with
Falkirk netting thirteen times in their last four league games the
new centre half partnership of Flynn and McCormack would quite
rightly have been expecting a busy day.
For the first quarter of the game they got what they were
expecting, as on a greasy pitch it was the home side that started
the brightest but County soaked up the pressure and began to work
their way into the tie.
The only goal of the game came on 27 minutes,
Barrowman neatly slotting home following some good work by Vigurs
down the left flank. From this point on it was County that
continued to threaten, causing Falkirk all sorts of problems on the
counter and could have gone into the break with a much greater
advantage.
County continued to dominate through the second half with any
Falkirk forays forward handled comfortably by the Staggie's
defence. With five minutes to go there was a realisation
amongst the home support that they were not going to get anything
from this game, the mass exodus commenced and the Falkirk players
seem to accept the defeat.
A couple of late chances and a strong shout for a penalty
dismissed by Dougie McDonald could have brought about a more
deserving score line, but the three points were secured and County
can take real confidence from a fine all round display.
