Ross County welcomed back Michael Gardyne from
suspension for this rescheduled Irn-Bru First Division clash with
Morton. In his pre-match notes Willie McStay reinforced the point
that there are no easy games in this division and this soon
became apparent as Ross County came up against a well
organised Morton side.
The home side started
brightly and were certainly the better team early on;
Andy Barrowman finally breaking the deadlock
on 23 minutes after heading home Martin Scott's
cross. Just when you thought the Staggies were starting to hit
their stride Morton's Graham latched onto a sloppy back pass
and slotted past McGovern to level the scores.
Five minutes later Graham turned
provider as he centred for Jenkins to head home their second.
Morton continued to press and could have extended their lead
further before half time; Stewart Kean guilty of missing from close
range.
Half time gave the Staggies a
chance to regroup and as the second half progressed and Morton sat
back protecting their lead, County started to see more of the
ball. With few clear cut chances
forthcoming McStay started to shuffle the pack in search
of the equaliser, Corcoran initially replacing Vigurs, Steven
Craig then coming on for Brittain, with the final substitution
seeing Martin Scott make way for Garry Wood. County continued to
press and dominate possession and five minutes into injury
time their persistence was rewarded, Scott Boyd heading home
to give the Staggies a share of the spoils and deny Morton their
first away win of the season.
League leaders Dunfermline, held to
a scoreless draw at home tonight by 8th placed Partick
are next to visit Dingwall, recent meetings between the
two sides have been crackers, the last four games serving
up 18 goals, so don't miss out, head down to Victoria
Park this Saturday and get behind the team.
