It was honours even at Victoria Park as Ross County fought
back bravely from a goal down to take a much deserved point
from this fixture.
In what was seen by many as a dress rehearsal for the ALBA
Challenge Cup Final on the 28th November, it was the
home side that started the brightest, comfortably keeping
possession and looking the most likely to draw first blood. However
against the run of play on 18 minutes, trialist Colin McMenamin
tapped in from six yards to give the visitors the lead.
As the game progressed it was County that continued to
dominate possession pinning Queens back in their own half for long
spells.
An enforced change shortly after half-time saw Scott Boyd
replaced by Scott Morrison with Adams shuffling the pack further on
67 minutes bringing Michael Gardyne on to replace Martin Scott.
County continued to push forward but Queens were
proving resilient in defence. With a little less than ten minutes
left on the clock County were finally rewarded for their efforts as
Iain Vigurs smashed home a fine goal with his seemingly less
favoured right boot.
Despite continued pressure from the Staggies the winner was not
forthcoming and in the end they had to settle for a share of
the spoils.
