It does not seem that long
ago that Dr Andrew Murray took time out of what was a very
busy schedule to drop into Victoria Park and catch up
with his cousin Scott Morrison.
Andrew, a GP from Aberdeen set himself the
unbelievable target of running the 2,650 miles from John
O'Groats to the Sahara, North Africa, in just 85 days! This
record smashing feat is all in aid of raising £100,000 for the
Yamaa Trust, a Scottish organisation founded with one single aim,
the amelioration of poverty in the South Gobi region of
Mongolia.
He began his journey amid some of the worst weather
this country has seen, battling his way through the snow that
brought much of Great Britain to a stand still. 75 days
on and the weather could not be more different as Andrew travels
through the scorching Sahara with the tarmac literally melting
beneath his feet.
Unbelievably a week ahead of schedule with extra miles
added to his trip, Andrew today completed his challenge, and
everyone at Ross County Football Club would like to congratulate
him on what is an unprecedented and astounding achievement, a true
inspiration.
Anyone wishing to donate to Andrew's cause and the
Yamaa Trust can still do so by text or online through the scotland2sahara website, where you can
also learn more about the Trust.
