This Saturday sees the competitive action return to the Global Energy Stadium as season 2019/2020 begins with the first group match of the Betfred Scottish Professional Football League Cup. Our first match sees us welcome “The Gable Endies”, Montrose FC, 4th placed finishers in last season's Ladbrokes League 1.
The team news for the Staggies sees Ross Draper, Kenny van der Weg, Daniel Armstrong and Don Cowie miss out. All are making very good progress with recoveries but unfortunately will miss this one. With only four players missing out there is no doubt a selection headache will ensue for Steven & Stuart in picking a starting XI as we head towards Saturday afternoon.
Meanwhile, a former Staggie, Stewart Petrie, will be in the dug out for opponents, Montrose. Petrie, who played for the Staggies in the latter stages of his career has built a strong League 1 squad and will be looking to try and make it out of the group stage of this cup competition. Montrose come with an experienced side that include former Falkirk, Hibernian and St Johnstone midfielder Patrick Cregg and Dundee United legend Sean Dillon.
Tickets will be available from the ticket office on Saturday from 9.00am. Staggies Bar will be open to both sets of supporters from 1.00pm with Food being served.
