Ross County dropped in to the bottom half of the table after a narrow 2-1 defeat in Paisley. The hosts coming from 1 down to defeat the Staggies thanks to a late goal.
The game started brightly for County getting in behind the St Mirren defence on two occasions. Were it not for shooting wide on both occasions the Staggies could have gone in front earlier.
Brian Graham would step up and put County ahead. He took the ball down and played a neat one-two on the edge of the box before taking aim from 20 yards and firing low past Hladky in to the bottom left hand corner.
The hosts would equalise just short of half time. Pinball in the County box from a Saints corner saw the ball fall to the feet of Sean McLoughin who hammered past Baxter from close range.
In to the second half and the match would be relatively end to end with both teams pressing for a second goal to edge in front.
Lee Erwin was unlucky not to put the Staggies ahead with 10 minutes remaining. He met a great cross at the back post and headed back across goal only for his effort to be cleared off the line.
It wouldn’t be until 88 minutes a goal would come and it would fall the way of the home side. The ball came to the feet of Sam Foley who from 25 yards sent a pile driver off the underside of the bar and in to the top left hand corner.
County were unable to find a killer equaliser in the final minutes and leave all 3 points in Paisley. It’s Celtic at home next for the Staggies on Sunday 1st December.
