Brophy joins County

25/01/2023

Eamonn Brophy has today joined Ross County on loan for the remainder of the 2022/23 cinch Premiership season from St Mirren FC.

With over 200 appearances in the Premiership, Eamonn will bring experience to Malky Mackay’s options in the forward area of the pitch and with almost 50 Premiership goals the 26-year-old has a proven track record of hitting the back of the net.

Brophy has featured for Hamilton Accies, Kilmarnock and St Mirren in the Scottish Premiership- most notably a key figure in the Kilmarnock side that finished in third place under now Scotland Manager Steve Clarke, scoring 11 league goals for the Ayr-shire side as they qualified for European Football.

In addition to his experience at Premiership level, Eamonn was also capped for Scotland, making his debut in a 2-1 victory over Cyprus in June 2019. His senior cap came following several appearances for Scotland at U-19 and U-21 levels.

On the signing of Brophy, Malky Mackay said, “It’s great to bring somebody with Eamonn’s experience to Dingwall. He will be a big asset for us in the second half of the campaign and we know that he can add something different to our group.”

“Eamonn is proven at this level and has consistently performed in the Premiership for several years which has also seen him recognised at international level and we are delighted to have him here for the remainder of the campaign. Eamonn is also a player I got to know well through his youth caps with Scotland, so I know the qualities he has.”

“I would like to thank Stephen Robinson and Keith Lasley at St Mirren for working with us to make this move happen.”
