Success for Xmas Markets

15/12/2020

Saturday 12th December saw the second Christmas Market take place at the Global Energy Stadium. After a tough 2020 for many local traders, the club facilitated two markets in the run up to Christmas to try and play our part in the local economy as well as giving Christmas a little feel of normality about it.

Over the two markets over 1,500 people attended with positive feedback being received about the processes and protocols in place for COVID-19 over the two dates.

“I would like to thank you and your team that worked so hard behind the scenes to make today such an amazing success! It was run with such military precision my son would have been proud of it! It really was a huge success from start to finish. I was practically cleared out of my melts and will need to get melting again to replenish my stock. Thanks again for all your hard work. After the year that we all have had to endure, it was a real boost.”

Ross County has always tried to be “more than just a football club” and the markets were seen as a way of offering some of our local traders the opportunity to be customer facing in a year that has decimated the live events market. Between the two markets over 40 different traders had the opportunity to showcase their products with many extremely happy at the timely boost to be able to do so for the first time since COVID-19 hit the UK in March.

“Thank you too to all at Ross County for all the hard work put in to allow us to hold this Christmas market. It was a great community builder and, as a first-time seller, very successful. Roll on more events in 2021!”

One of the most popular features of our second market was our “Santa’s Grotto” which was operated by one of the clubs Charity Partners, Highland Hospice. With Santa in attendance it was an opportunity for little ones to receive an early present as well as meet the man himself.

“A great location for the Market, we enjoyed being part of it, thanks to all your team who looked after us so well and the safe environment you provided for us and the people attending. We will definitely be back.”

Our small, passionate team of staff deserve great credit for the hardwork, organisation and execution of both of the markets against a backdrop of very strict but necessary procedures to ensure the safety of all in attendance. The markets have certainly played their part in the positive pre-Christmas vibes around the stadium as well as in the local community.

“Hope you and all the staff have recovered after Saturday. You all did a fantastic job. We have been attending fayres for over 10 years, and yours was definitely one of the best organised.”

“Thanks to you all for making the day such a success, everything went like clockwork, from the welcome when we arrived to ensuring we all felt safe on the day, and the hot drink and cake was very much appreciated. Well done team Ross County.”

Following the great success of the two markets, Ross County FC are now looking at how this could be brought in to 2021 and how can build on the fantastic foundations of the market with the support that has been shown through the traders and our local community.

All quotes in bold and italics were sent to us by traders who had attended one or both of our markets.
