County partner with The Sporting Pursuit

10/08/2021

Ross County FC’s Academy today announce an exciting new partnership with The Sporting Pursuit- a creative organisation dedicated to people development and creating a high-performance environment through Talent, Leadership & Character Development training.

The partnership is designed to support academy players with behavioural development in school, sport and life to produce positive results and deliver on personal ambitions and goals.

The Sporting Pursuit Founder Stevie Baxter and his international colleague Dr. Ralph Pim, who is a former Director of Competitive Sports at the United States Military Academy (West Point), have built highly successful character development programmes across the globe including USA, Australia, New Zealand and Singapore in addition to their work in the UK & Ireland.

During these spells they have worked in elite performance environments, in partnership with D1 US College Programmes, with International/Olympic athletes & coaches as well as with governing bodies in a number of different sports. The Sporting Pursuit recently announced a similar partnership with the Irish FA’s JD Academy in conjunction with UEFA.

The programme will be made up of regular monthly sessions that will provide thought-provoking tasks and be delivered to each coach and player with a focus on personal growth through character development training.

Players will gain a better understanding of themselves and how that connects to their team’s overarching purpose and identity. The values-based curriculum builds self-belief, self-confidence, and resilience. Ultimately, the goal is to create a culture of commitment that promotes behaviours that deliver success both in sport and in life.

The Club is excited to be working with Stevie and Ralph on this new, innovative and progressive programme that we hope will support, encourage and develop our academy players over the coming weeks, months and years with the Staggies Academy being the first club in Scotland to experience this new programme.

On the partnership, Academy Manager Gordon Duff said, “We are really excited to be working with Stevie and Ralph. From the initial contact we had there was a real energy and buzz around working with them and we are delighted to now have this at the point of delivery.”

“One thing we always want to do here is to bring fresh and creative ideas to our players and this programme is something for each individual to be really excited about. Over the last few years there has been a big emphasis put on behaviours, attitudes and mindsets in a performance environment and we believe our players will reap the benefits of being involved in this programme.”
