Getting to know: Josh Stones

Name: Josh Stones

Born: 12th November 2003

Previous Clubs: Guisely, Wigan Athletic

Josh joined Ross County on loan in January 2023 from Wigan Athletic and will be with us until the end of the season.

How have you adapted to living/playing in Scotland?

It was a challenge I wanted to take and I feel I’ve adapted well up here and love playing and living up here every day.

In terms of the level of football up here, how does it compare to what you have played in before?

It’s a better level than I have ever played at as I’ve only really played non league and U21 football so it’s a whole new level but I am really enjoying it as I have to adapt and watching players at this level every day will only benefit me in my development.

Has playing with some of the experienced strikers at the club benefitted your game?

Yeah it has 100% helped my game, they have all helped me every day in training and have been great in giving me advice both on and off the pitch. I aim to take it all on board as they have played at this level for a lot longer than me and any advice that can help me develop as a player is always positive.

How has it been playing in front of big crowds and the sky cameras in Dingwall?

It’s been good playing up here, and with good crowds and the games being shown on sky, it's something that I really enjoy and feel that I thrive off.

What is your aim for the rest of the season?

I'm hoping to get more minutes in the run-in and hopefully can do everything I can to help the boys out of the situation we are currently in.
