Staggies launch girls football pathway

10/12/2020

Ross County have created a new partnership that will see the club create a new pathway for female players in the North of Scotland. Partnering with Invergordon Girls FC, the Staggies will look to work with Invergordon to enhance and develop the female pathway in an agreement that brings the Ross-shire outfit under the Ross County umbrella.

Invergordon Girls FC have been a very well-organised and structured team over the years under the leadership of a small team of volunteers, who we will now try to support and develop as we look to continue to grow the female game in the Highlands & Islands.

On the partnership, Academy & Community Manager Gordon Duff said

“We see this as a fantastic landmark for both sides. Invergordon will benefit from our skills, resources and capabilities and we will benefit by working with a well-run team that have really progressed female football in Ross-shire over the years.”

“Through our communications and partnership both parties really see the value it could bring to our local community and giving our young people opportunities and a platform to progress and develop.”

Invergordon Girls, Iain MacIver said:

“To partner with Ross County is a great boost for us. We now have a pathway that can support what we have been trying to push toward over the past few years and we are delighted to be part of the Ross County family.”

“Being a small, volunteer run team we have the infrastructure to be where we are now but don’t always necessarily have the infrastructure to support where we want to be so this will give us a great outlet to try and fulfil our vision for the long-term.”
