Head of Academy Recruitment Appointed

13/09/2021

Ross County Football Club are excited to announce the appointment of John Mcleod as the Club’s New Head of Academy Recruitment.

John will be a familiar character to those involved in Highland Football having spent most of his career as a striker within the Highland League- most notably with Fort William, Brora Rangers and Buckie Thistle. Due to injury John’s career was cut short and he now takes on this new challenge within our Academy structure.

Following the challenging decision to retire from playing, John embarked on a range of courses with the Scottish FA, gaining key qualifications in Scouting and Talent Identification. After conversations with Academy Manager Gordon Duff, John became a clear stand out candidate for the role and will get to work immediately on this new and exciting department for our academy.

On the appointment, Academy Manager Gordon Duff said, “We are delighted to have John on board. He has a strong knowledge of football in the Highlands and has really invested in himself and his skillset since his playing career ended.”

“John is hungry and has a real desire to make this a successful field for the club so that our academy can continue to prosper and produce young talent.”

Following his appointment, the new Head of Academy Recruitment, John, added, “Its fantastic to be offered this opportunity. It is an area that club really wants to develop, and I am really enthusiastic about what we can do and how we can begin to build a strong structure here for years to come.”

“We all know there is great talent within the Highlands, and I look forward to working with our new recruitment team to find the next crop of young players that we hope will go on and represent the club in the future.”

Ross County FC have also made a number of key appointments with John for his Recruitment team and these will be communicated within the coming days.
