Hylton "You can’t help but smile"

22/01/2021

Jermain Hylton spoke yesterday morning and discussed his recent performances after he netted in Ross County’s 4-1 victory over Aberdeen last weekend at the Global Energy Stadium.

He explained: “For sure, the most important thing for any footballer is to be playing and that’s happening now, I’m enjoying my football again and there’s a real good vibe around the place.

“The main priority is to be playing games and when you’re not doing that, it’s definitely frustrating and can be a bit disheartening.

“I’ve been in the game long enough now to know that football changes very quickly from bad to good, good to bad and it’s a cycle that keeps on going until you leave the game.

“It’s just football, I’ve had spells in my career where I’ve gone places, not played, and had to go again somewhere else so it’s just the same thing.

“Like I said, things are going really well now… so you’ve got to take maximum advantage of the good spells and minimise the bad ones.”

Hylton also expressed his excitement with County’s recent form and the impact John Hughes has had on the squad. He said:

“It’s always going to be good to get a result like that, especially against a huge club like Aberdeen. But to be honest, we were going into that game quite confident. Since the gaffer has come in, he’s came with bundles of energy and positivity, his personality is infectious, and you can’t help but smile when you’re around the club at the minute.

“Before Aberdeen, you were feeling that vibe and now that just amplifies it, I think, and exudes it to the public probably.”

In addition, the winger sung the praises of fellow forward Oli Shaw and explained his pleasure with County’s current display of attacking football. He said:

“Oli is in a real good vein of form at the minute, (he) can’t stop scoring. If I’m playing out wide for example and you’re putting the ball into areas, you know there’s a chance that Oli will pick it up and get you an assist and get the team a goal.

“I don’t know if there’s necessarily a right way to go into any game but obviously I’m a forward so I’m always going to be an advocate for attacking football. I enjoy attacking football, so it suits me down to the ground for us to really be going for teams and going for the throat.
