International Break Round-Up | March 2023
30/03/2023
We had three players on international duty in March.
Dylan Smith was named in the Scotland U17s squad, Nohan Kenneh got his first call-up to the Liberia squad and Victor Loturi also got his first call-up to the Canada squad.
DYLAN SMITH
Scotland Under-17s have secured qualification for the finals of the European Championship in Hungary, after finishing second in Group 2 in the Elite Round. Scotland bounced back from a 4-2 defeat to Wales in the Elite Round by beating Montenegro 2-1 on Saturday. A 0-0 draw with Iceland on Tuesday left McLaughlin's young side on 4 points which proved to be enough as they progressed as one of the 7 best second-placed teams. Dylan started all 3 matches for the young scots.
NOHAN KENNEH
Liberia faced off against South Africa in an African Cup of Nations qualifying double header. Nohan started both matches also as Liberia came back from 2-0 down to get a 2-2 draw in the opener followed by South Africa taking all 3 points in the second game with a 2-1 defeat for Liberia.
VICTOR LOTURI
Canada firstly travelled to Curacao for their first of two matches where they picked up a 4-0 win, this was followed by a 2-1 win at home against Honduras. Victor was an unused sub in both matches but a great experience for the midfielder being involved in a squad that played in the world cup less than 6 months ago!
