Ross County Football Club is looking to recruit a Sports Scientist (1st team) to take the lead on the delivery of the sport science programme for the playing squad and the strength and conditioning programme across the club.

Reporting to the 1st Team Manager/Coach, you will work in conjunction with the performance and medical team and contribute to the continuation of the development and implementation of Ross County FC’s Long Term Club Strategy, with special reference to the needs of players to compete at the elite level of Scottish football.

You will also be responsible for the part time Sports Scientist in our Football Academy.

1st Team Lead Sports Scientist (Full-time)
To work the hours required to support the Head Coach, coaching staff, medical team, and all players to maximise their availability to train and perform in the Scottish Premiership for Ross County FC.


Key Responsibilities for the role include:

:: To provide current best practice level of sports science/conditioning service to all 1st team players.
:: Ensure load monitoring and maintenance of GPS equipment is kept to a high and fully working standard. Reporting this to all key stakeholders in a user-friendly way.
:: Lead/host daily/weekly meetings with both the coaching, medical & leadership team on the physical demands/outcomes and goals of training/matches.
:: Structure and implement an S&C programme to help build and develop a resilient playing squad. This where possible should be individualised and take account of previous injury history and player age.
:: Lead/assist as both pitch and gym-based rehab sessions working alongside medical department & development RTT/RTP criteria which are objective, reviewed and agreed with the coaching team.
:: Develop and implement new and existing recovery strategies at the football club to prepare the squad within congested fixture periods.
:: Attend all 1st team training and game days home and away.
:: Be able to advise both staff and players on pre- and post-match nutritional strategies where appropriate.

Essential Criteria
:: BSc in sports and exercise science or related discipline
:: Evidence of having worked in elite sport
:: Exposure to GPS
:: Competent ability using Microsoft packages such as Excel, PowerPoint, and word
:: Experience of working effectively as part of a team
:: Willing and open to self-improvement as well as ongoing CPD
:: Have proven experience of developing the emotional intelligence in varying environments
:: Show a passion for their discipline and wanting to learn
