Josh Sims joins Ross County

14/02/2022

Ross County are delighted to announce the signing of highly sought-after winger Josh Sims from English Premier League side Southampton. Josh has been on the radar of quite a number of clubs across England and Scotland and Ross County are delighted to secure his signature.

Josh has amassed 10 years with Southampton, playing for them in the English Premier League, as well as loans across the Championship, League one and the MLS.

Having won the Under-21 Premier League Cup in 2014/15, Sims made his professional debut for Southampton in November 2016 against Everton in the English Premier League. Just a month later, he would make his European debut for The Saints against Hapoel Be’er Sheva in the Europa League, before being part of the team that would knock out Liverpool on Southampton’s way to the 2017 EFL Cup final, where Josh would pick up a runners-up medal.

With Reading, New York Red Bulls and Doncaster Rovers, Josh would have loan spells that would further enhance his development and see him become a regular youth International for England. He has over 25 youth caps for England, across three age groups and was also a part of the England Under-17 side that won the European Championship in 2014.

On signing Josh, Manager Malky Mackay said, “We are absolutely delighted to bring Josh to Ross County. He is a player we have been aware of for a considerable time, and a great deal of work done to bring Josh to Dingwall. We have had to be patient and keep in regular contact over the course of the past 9 months, and are delighted to finally be able to sign him.

“Josh is an exciting player with great domestic and international experience that will add to our group, and he is a player I think our fans will really enjoy watching. I’d like to once again thank Southampton for our continued relationship”
