LOAN WATCH | Five Staggies In Action

03/08/2022

ADAM MACKINNON – MONTROSE

19-year old midfielder Adam MacKinnon joined cinch League One side Montrose on a season-long loan deal. The Stornoway-born middle man has one previous loan spell from County having turned out for Brora Rangers in both the 2020/21 and 2021/22 campaigns in the Highland League.

MacKinnon began life with his new club on the bench as the Gable Endies travelled to Falkirk for their first match of the new campaign. On 82 minutes with both sides looking for an opener he was called up to replace Liam Callaghan, but neither side could find a breakthrough.

MATT WRIGHT – MONTROSE

Striker Matthew Wright has also joined cinch League One side Montrose on a season-long loan deal. The forward raised eyebrows with 15 goals in 15 Highland League games on loan with Brora Rangers, and now tests himself at a higher level. Wright began the match on the bench alongside MacKinnon, and came on as a double substitute alongside his County counterpart. He replaced Rory McAllister as they searched for the all-important winner but after absorbing pressure from the home side, settled for a point.

Montrose are next in action on Saturday when they host Queen of the South in League One.

LOGAN ROSS – LOSSIEMOUTH

Goalkeeper Logan Ross has re-joined Highland League outfit Lossiemouth on loan for the 2022/23 campaign, having turned out for the Coasters 32 times last season in all competitions.

Following a disappointing defeat the week previous, Ross and the Coasters travelled to Deveronvale for more Highland League action. After a valiant early display in the baking hot Banff sunshine, it was the Vale who took the lead with a tap-in for Dane Ballard after Ross couldn’t collect a cross. They added another in the second half when Kyle MacKillop-Hall danced through the Lossie defence to slot home.

Ross and Lossiemouth are next in action on Saturday at home to Buckie Thistle.

RYAN MACLEMAN – Forres Mechanics

18-year old midfielder Ryan Macleman signed his first professional contract with the Staggies in the summer of 2021 and after picking up experience in the Highland league last term, has joined Forres Mechanics.

Following a 4-0 win last week, the Cans fell to a narrow 1-0 loss to Brechin with MacLeman playing a full 90 minutes.

CONNALL EWAN – Forres Mechanics

Connall Ewan made his senior debut last week and followed it up with a second full 90 on Saturday against Brechin. He’ll next be in action next weekend as the Cans face Nairn County.
