Match Preview - Celtic (A)

04/08/2023

Saturday sees the return of league action for the Staggies as we travel to Celtic Park to take on Celtic.

Malky Mackay's side will be looking to build on a positive start to the campaign with our League Cup campaign starting with us topping our group and making it to the last 16.

TEAM NEWS

The good news for County is that no new injuries have been added to the list. Eamonn Brophy, Alex Samuel and Ross Laidlaw made their returns from injury in last weekends match against Kelty Hearts. Ben Purrington, Jordy Hiwula and Matthew Wright are all edging closer to returns also. Ross Callachan and Ben Paton remain as our long-term absentees as they continue their recoveries.

HEAD TO HEAD

The last meeting between the two sides took place in April where Celtic defeated us 2-0 in a closely contested match at the Global Energy Stadium. Our last visit to Celtic Park saw us lead for a period of the game but a quick-fire double for the Champions saw us defeated 2-1.

THE OPPOSITION

The Glasgow side have added 6 new faces to the squad so far in this window with the additions of Maik, Tillo, Iwata, Yang, Odin-Holm and Hyeok-Kyu Kwon. They have also seen a change in the dugout with Brendan Rodgers returning to the club following Ange Postecoglou’s move to Tottenham Hotspur.

ATTENDING THE GAME

We highly recommend all those travelling to Glasgow allow extra time for their journey. Cycling events across Scotland are expected to cause disruption with travel across the country. A sell-out home crowd of around 60,000 is expected also.

WATCHING THE GAME:

For those not making the trip, the game will be live on Sky Sports with a 12:30PM kick-off.
