Opposition Focus

Dundee United are currently placed 7th position in the league but they are only 5 points ahead of Ross County in 11th.

The Terrors have not won a match since 23rd December when they defeated Kilmarnock 2-0 at home and have since slipped out of the top 6 after Livingston and St Mirren compiled a series of impressive wins over the winter months.

Perhaps the more damning statistic is that no team in the Scottish Premiership have scored fewer goals than Micky Mellon’s side this season. They have scored just 21 goals in 27 games; this is the league’s joint-lowest number of goals scored (paired with Ross County).

In fact, United have scored just 5 goals in their last 8 games and they have not defeated a higher-placed opposition since they beat Ross County 2-1 in August. The Tangerines have only scored 2 goals against teams placed higher than them in the league since this match.

However, a win at the weekend could still lift Dundee United back into the top 6 if St Mirren drop points to Kilmarnock.

Ross County Focus

The Staggies find themselves in 11th position in the league but a win against Dundee United could lift them to 9th in the table and bring them within just 2 points of Saturday’s opposition in 7th place.

John Hughes’s side will be riding the high of their late comeback that rescued 3 points for the Highlanders on Wednesday away to Hamilton Accies.

Debutant, Jordan White, grabbed an equaliser before turning provider for Billy Mckay’s winner, all inside the last 10 minutes in a dramatic 2-1 victory.

With White and Mckay impressing off the bench as well as Oli Shaw boasting an impressive 4 goals in his last 7 matches, Yogi is left with a selection headache up front.

John Hughes is fairly accustomed to getting the edge over the Tayside club. He has never won more matches against any other club in his managerial career, having beat them 11 times with 4 different clubs. Yogi has actually beaten the Terrors with every club he has managed in Scotland (Falkirk, Inverness, Hibernian and Raith Rovers).

Last Match

Dundee United won the last clash between the 2 sides when a Nicky Clark double, including a first-half penalty lead Micky Mellon’s side to a 2-1 victory at Tannadice. Oli Shaw pulled a goal back in the 81st minute but County failed to find a late equaliser to complete a successful comeback.
