MATCH PREVIEW | RCFC v Hibernian

29/01/2023

The Staggies will be trying to make it 6 points from 6 on Tuesday night when Hibernian visit the Global Energy Stadium. After an impressive 3-0 win over Kilmarnock on Saturday, Malky Mackay and his team will be looking to continue the momentum building as they aim to push up the table and away from the drop zone.

TEAM NEWS

Ben Purrington & Ben Paton are the continued absentees as they continue their recovery from long term injury.

Aside from the two Ben’s, Nohan Kenneh will miss out as he is unable to face his parent club.

TALE OF THE TAPE

Both County and Hibernian have claimed 2-0 away wins over each other so far this season which tees the third meeting of the two up very nicely in Dingwall on Tuesday night.

Lee Johnson’s side claimed a 2-0 victory in Dingwall back in October. The currently injured Martin Boyle and the recently departed Ryan Porteous notched the goals for the visitors as they took all 3 points back to Easter Road.

The Staggies returned the favour with 2-0 victory in Leith just before the Winter Break. George Harmon scored in the second minute of first half stoppage time and Alex Iacovitti added a second goal with just over 10 minutes left in the game.

All to play for on Tuesday evening…

THE OPPOSITION

Hibernian have taken 7 points from the last 9 available in the cinch Premiership. After beating Motherwell and drawing with Dundee United, the visitors romped to a 6-0 win over Aberdeen at the weekend and will be looking to continue their own momentum from that victory.

However, two 3-0 derby defeats to Hearts in January will still be sticking in the throats of the Hibernian staff & players who will be looking to continue to fight their way up the table to gain ground on their city rivals.

Lee Johnson currently sees his team sitting in 5th place in the cinch Premiership with 30 points from their 23 league matches- just 10 points ahead of Ross County.
