Match Preview | Ross County v Greenock Morton

20/07/2023

Saturday sees the return of competitive action to the Global Energy Stadium as we host Greenock Morton in the Viaplay Cup.

Malky Mackay's side will be looking to build on our winning start to the campaign with our 5-1 win over Stranraer whilst Dougie Imrie and his men are aiming to continue their positive start with wins over Stranraer and Kelty Hearts

TEAM NEWS

The good news for County is that no new injuries have been added to the list. Josh Reid, Matty Wright and Jordy Hiwula missed out last week and are likely to be back in contention next week. Eamonn Brophy and Ross Laidlaw are nearing a return but this one will also be too soon for them both. Ross Callachan and Ben Paton remain as our long-term absentees as they continue their recoveries.

HEAD TO HEAD

The last meeting between the two sides took place in 2019 in the Championship, we faced 'the Ton' 4 times that season with the home side triumphing on all 4 occasions. The most recent of these being a 2-1 victory for The Staggies at the Global Energy Stadium with Brian Graham and Josh Mullin netting the goals that day.

THE OPPOSITION

The Inverclyde side have added 5 new faces to the squad so far in this window with the addition of ex-Inverness players Kirk Broadfoot and Steven Boyd being joined by Jack Bearne, Calum Waters and Ryan Mullen. They currently sit top of our group in the Viaplay Cup albeit having played a game more.

ATTENDING THE GAME

Tickets for both home and away supporters can be purchased here. Our club shop will be open from 12PM with our ticket office (opposite the club shop) being open from 1PM. We recommend arriving early to minimise queuing.
