Northern Ireland call for Max

07/08/2021

Ross County FC Academy Coach Max Campbell has been called up to work with a Northern Ireland youth squad for a camp in Belfast this week.

Max will be in Belfast with the Northern Ireland U17 squad as a performance analyst. The opportunity was presented to him thanks to manager Gerard Lyttle, and Kyle Ferguson from the University of Ulster.

During his time with the Ross County Academy, Max has delivered performance analysis for a number of years with varying age groups and his experience has been a key driver in the success of this field within our Academy. This is a fantastic opportunity for Max to challenge himself and help showcase his ability within a national team environment.

The five day training camp will consist of daily sessions along with two friendly matches against local opposition.

On this exciting opportunity, Max said "My role involves recording training and games, building statistics, compiling highlight packages and presenting back to the squad."

"Some of the coaches are established ex-Premier League players. The majority hold Pro and A-License level badges and I have enjoyed picking their brains so far."

"As a coach it is important to find ways to challenge yourself and develop new skills. I look forward to more work of a similar nature in the future. I can’t wait to bring back new ideas to the Ross County Youth Academy."

Academy Manager Gordon Duff said, "This is a fantastic opportunity for Max. He is a terrific coach which has been seen in our Academy for a long period of time and it is great to see his hard work get rewarded."

"One thing that the Academy always wants to do is develop and be innovative whether it be players or staff, and Max will be exposed to a new environment that will develop him over these next few days. I would also like to thank the Northern Irish FA for presenting this opportunity to Max and the excellent way they communicated with us during this process."

Everybody at Ross County Football Club is absolutely delighted for Max in receiving this opportunity and look forward to hearing his feedback when he returns to the club.
