Paton pledges future to County

29/03/2022

Ross County are delighted to announce that Ben Paton has today signed an additional one-year extension to his contract at the Global Energy Stadium.

Ben joined County last summer after spending a large period of his development with Blackburn Rovers. On signing his extension, Ben will now stay with Ross County until Summer 2023.

A versatile midfielder, Ben has featured for Malky Mackay in central midfield, on the left of the midfield as well as deputising at left back earlier in the season. Signing his first professional contract in 2018 at Blackburn, Ben followed older brother Harry through a scholarship programme which would see him spend over 5 years at Ewood Park before making the move to Dingwall last summer.

Ben has also represented Canada at youth levels, featuring for both the U17 and U20 teams in recent times.

Manager Malky Mackay on re-signing Paton has said “Ben has shown a tremendous attitude for such a young man. His versatility has been a real bonus this season, he still has lots to learn, and he is growing in confidence every week. There is no doubting the work ethic and determination he has and there are certainly big opportunities ahead for him.”

“We are delighted Ben has committed his future to the club and we look forward to working with him.”
