Richie Brittain departs

03/06/2021

Ross County Football Club can confirm the departure of Assistant Manager Richie Brittain.

In light of restructuring ahead of the 2021/22 season, the club have taken the difficult decision to part ways with Richie, who has been a great servant of Ross County Football Club. Over his many years here in Dingwall, Richie has been an iconic captain, a leading appearance holder, Reserve Team Manager and our Assistant Manager in the 2020/21 season.

In his 13-year association with the club Richie made 270 appearances- scoring 50 goals in the process before taking a short spell away from the club at Brora Rangers. After clinching the Highland League Cup as their manager, Richie returned to Ross County as Reserve Team Manager, leading the side to North of Scotland Cup success, before being appointed Stuart Kettlewell’s Assistant Manager last summer, a role he would continue under John Hughes to the end of the season.

Chairman Roy MacGregor said, “Richie has been a tremendous servant to Ross County Football Club over his time here. As a player, captain and coach, Richie has always upheld such high standards and true commitment and will always be known as the Captain that took us to the 2010 Scottish Cup Final and to the Scottish Premiership for the first time in our history.”

“Furthermore, Richie has always been somebody that this club could rely on and that would produce for us on and off the field and for that I am extremely grateful. Similar to other quotes I have made in recent times, when we all look back at Ross County over the next 10, 15, 20 years and beyond, Richie is always one of the first players that will come to the mind of people when they think of Ross County.”

We wish Richie all the very best for the future and thank him for his tremendous service.
