Ross County visit Highland Children's Unit

08/12/2025

Ross County Football Club were honoured to return to the Highland Children's Unit, continuing our annual visit to deliver gifts to the children. This visit has become an important annual tradition for the club as part of our commitment to supporting families across the Highlands.

Alongside the terrific Archie Foundation, Ross County players Ross Laidlaw, Brad Foster, James Scott, Jamie Lindsay, Kieran Phillips and Gary Mackay-Steven visited the HCU to meet the children, some just months old, to bring what can only be a small comfort in the festive season during what is an incredibly difficult time for these children and their families.

The Ross County first team squad made a collective contribution towards the purchase of an array of toys, gifts and games for the Unit, which can be used by all of the children who are on the ward now, as well as those children who may have to attend the ward in the future. Each child on the ward was gifted a Ross County shirt as well as some gifts from our club shop.

Neil McGregor, Archie’s business development and fundraising manager for the Highlands, said: “We are so grateful to the team at Ross County FC for visiting the patients in the Highland Children’s Unit.

“The children, families and nursing staff all enjoyed spending time with the team and Rossco, the club mascot.

“County’s very generous donation of toys for the children, games for use in the ward and biscuits for the staff were also very well received.

“Thanks to all at the club for their ongoing support of The Archie Foundation in the Highlands.”

Ross County Business Development Executive, Mark Ridgers, said: “It really means a lot to us to come in and spend some time with the kids at Raigmore and hand out a few gifts.

“You can see how much it lifts them, even for a moment, and that’s something the players and staff feel proud to be part of. It reminds us why staying involved in our community matters so much.

“We also want to give huge thanks to the staff at Raigmore in the Highland Children’s Unit, the work they do every single day is incredible.

"They’re the ones making the real difference, and we’re just grateful to be able to show a bit of support and appreciation for everything they do.

“As a Highland club, we take a lot of pride in getting behind causes like this—especially at this time of year.

“We’re wishing every child and their families all the best during this festive period.”

Ross County FC would like to thank the Archie Foundation and Raigmore Hospital for welcoming us once again.
