The Preview
Tony Docherty takes to the sidelines for his second match in charge of the Staggies on Saturday, with this weekend's task being a long trip south to face Scott Brown’s Ayr United.
Kick off in Ayr is at 3:00 PM at Somerset Park.
Ross County
Joining the gaffer in the dugout is his newly appointed assistant, Callum Davidson. Having had a long-lasting relationship with the manager, the pair come together looking to turn the Ross County ship around in our quest to climb the table.

In Docherty’s first match, we suffered a narrow defeat to Arbroath, who left Dingwall with all three points after they claimed a late goal to win 2-1. Keiran Phillips netted a penalty for the Staggies after Todorov opened the scoring. A late penalty from Aaron Muirhead was enough to win the match for the visitors.

With a whole week of training under the belt for Tony and his new squad, which included multiple double sessions, understanding and relationships will have grown stronger.
Player to Watch
Having had an incredibly fruitful season on loan at the opposition last season, Jay Henderson could be a key asset in unlocking an Ayr United defence which he knows very well.
Grabbing 29 goal contributions last campaign for Scott Brown’s side, Jay is a proven handful in this division. Despite a slower start than he would have hoped for in the County blue this season, a kickstart against his old side could be the perfect recipe for Tony Docherty to get this County side off the mark.
Ayr United
By their own admissions, the season hasn’t started the way Ayr had hoped it would. Without a win this season, they have drawn four of their league matches and lost to Raith Rovers.
Scott Brown will be eager to grab a win to ease somewhat amassing pressure on his name – and probably views a home tie and a long trip for the visitors as a decent opportunity to do so.
Player to Watch
Dominic Thomas has been a player who has had great success in the Championship in previous seasons. Putting up impressive numbers at Dunfermline and more so Queen’s Park, he earned a move away to Ireland with Derry City.
He returned to Ayr United this summer and has already netted twice, grabbing one assist. The dynamic winger is definitely one that the Staggies' backline can be concerned with keeping quiet.
The Gaffer
Tony Docherty has his say on his first week at the club.

In addition to Jay Henderson, Ross Docherty has also had a spell at Ayr United.
Former players Josh Mullin and Stephen Kelly also played for Ayr United.
