Ross County Women 0-2 Grampian

Ross County Women travelled to face Grampian Ladies on Sunday with a depleted squad. Several of our U16 YPL players stepped up after playing the day before, leaving us with just one substitute.
Despite the 2–0 defeat, the scoreline certainly doesn’t reflect the performance.
The Staggies created chances and caused Grampian plenty of problems throughout the game, but unfortunately couldn’t find the back of the net. Grampian had to work incredibly hard to break us down, and both of their goals came after the girls had made them fight for every opportunity. This was far from an easy victory for Grampian.
The girls defended brilliantly, worked tirelessly and made it extremely difficult for Grampian to find a way through. They had to be patient, work hard and earn every bit of that 2–0 win.
Given the late kick-off, limited numbers and the demands placed on the players, the effort and commitment shown were outstanding. Every player gave absolutely everything and represented Ross County Women brilliantly.
Player of the Match – Eilidh McWhirter
Eilidh was phenomenal. One of our U16 YPL players, she stepped up brilliantly and showed tremendous versatility by playing in several different positions throughout the game.
There is so much to be proud of. The result didn’t go our way, but the girls’ determination, attitude and fighting spirit certainly did. They made Grampian work incredibly hard for the win, and the 2–0 scoreline doesn’t tell the story of just how competitive this game was.
We keep working, improving and moving forward.
