Steven Ferguson End of Season Message

23/05/2022

Season 2021/22 has now drawn to a close and I want to take the opportunity to thank everybody that has been part of our success this season.

Firstly, to our supporters. Normally, reserved for the end of one of these statements, but I have to start with you. Your support of the team and the football club this year has been magnificent, none more so than on that afternoon in Aberdeen. We all know the logistical challenges that face our club and supporters so to take such a big following through that day was really special.

The way that you have supported the Manager and players alongside the staff of the football club gives us all a great platform to build on. We have to continue to exceed expectations and try to bring more people in to the Ross County family. Without you beside us there is no doubt this seasons achievement may not have been on the same scale.

I would like to thank Malky and his coaching staff. They have contributed so much in terms of the football side of things, but Malky has also taken a real responsibility in terms of the wider strategy of the club. We are lucky to have a team of staff that are so dedicated to the club and that want to achieve and exceed every step of the way. I know how tirelessly Malky and his staff have worked and I have no doubt they will continue to do so as we head for season 2022/23.

Our players must take a large amount of credit. It would have been very easy after 10 games for their heads to go down and give up, but they kept at it and got a huge reward. It is clear to see that our players have given a lot to the football club this year and have really invested in what we are trying to do in the long term. I would like to thank our Club Captain Keith Watson who has played such a leading role in the dressing room and all of the players for their character, integrity, work ethic and commitment.

It would be remiss of me not to mention the club staff that keep the football club operational. From our commercial team to accounts, operations and maintenance teams. Without these key departments we wouldn’t have a football club and we look at the tremendous servants at Ross County and can do nothing but admire them. For example, Davie Fraser our Groundsman who has arguably produced the best playing surface in Scotland all season and we are fortunate to have him as part of our club.

Non-playing departments in football always face huge challenges and hurdles and I want to thank each member of staff from across all those departments for their support, dedication and ability to go above and beyond week in and week out for Ross County FC.

We continue to face a great number of challenges year in and year out. Some of them have easily remedied solutions however other challenges we face have more problematic solutions. We will continue to tackle all of these issues head on and strive to find the best ways of challenging what lies ahead off-the-field.

Finally, I want to thank our Chairman Roy MacGregor and our Directors. Ross County wouldn’t be a Premiership team if it wasn’t for our Chairman and his energy and love for the club is the same now as it was when he signed me as a player back in 1996. Ably supported by the Directors, our Chairman is never scared to make tough decisions and support what he believes in and again this season he has given us so much to believe in but also to take great pride in as well.

I wish everybody an absolutely fantastic summer and look forward to seeing you all when football returns for season 2022/23.

Fergie
