Tom Grivosti departs County

20/01/2022

Tom Grivosti has today departed Ross County Football Club after 5 years of dedicated service to The Staggies.

Originally joining from Bolton Wanderers as part of Stuart Kettlewell’s development squad, Tom would go on to play a vital part in our Championship & Challenge Cup winning side of 2018-2019 which restored Ross County to the Scottish Premiership. During that campaign Tom also scored his first competitive goal for County at the Jailend in a league match against Dunfermline Athletic.

During our Premiership fixture with Rangers on 30th October 2019, Tom received an injury which kept him out for almost a full calendar year. Within that period Tom showed incredible commitment and determination to get himself back in the best possible shape. He made his return on 17th October 2020, in a 0-0 draw with Hibernian in Dingwall and would go on to feature in the next 6 games after that. In his final competitive appearance for the club, Tom scored his first Scottish Premiership goal against Kilmarnock on 21st November 2020, in a game where he would again be on the wrong end of an injury that would keep him out until the summer of 2021.

As well as being a young man with great potential Tom was also a firm fans favourite and regularly gave up his time to get involved with community initiatives and programmes, a quality I am sure will not be lost on our supporters.

It is felt at this point, that for Tom to best fulfil his potential he needs to play games regularly and be part of a new environment for him to grow and prosper. Tom will now join St Patricks Athletic in Ireland permanently, where we all look forward to watching him continue to develop in the future. Tom will always be part of our Ross County family and we thank him for all his contributions over the past 5 years.

Manager Malky Mackay has said “Tom is a terrific young man that has given a lot to the football club over 5 years and we now all look forward to seeing him grow and be successful in this next stage of his career.”

“At 22, Tom has two winners’ medals to his name (Championship & Challenge Cup) and has been a fantastic asset to Ross County over the period he has spent in Dingwall. Tom was also a player that really embraced and supported our ‘more than just a football club’ message and St Patricks Athletic will be a fantastic new chapter of him in his career.”
