LOAN WATCH | First Senior Goal for Young Staggie

10/08/2022

Five young Staggies are out on loan at the moment across Scottish Football and this week has seen a range of first's for the boys from Dingwall.

ADAM MACKINNON – MONTROSE

19-year old midfielder Adam MacKinnon joined cinch League One side Montrose on a season-long loan deal. The Stornoway-born middle man has one previous loan spell from County having turned out for Brora Rangers in both the 2020/21 and 2021/22 campaigns in the Highland League.

MacKinnon started and played a full 90 minutes in cinch League One as his side drew 0-0 with Queen of the South. Montrose were well on top from the off but couldn’t make their chances pay – with two golden opportunities in the first half. After just three minutes they had a goal ruled out for offside before being awarded a penalty just after the half-hour mark but it was saved by the QS ‘keeper. Mackinnon was pushed forward in the second half as his side looked to grab the opener, but it wasn’t to be.

MATT WRIGHT – MONTROSE

Striker Matthew Wright was out of action over the weekend with a slight knock. Wright should be fit to return to action next weekend.

Montrose face Dunfermline away from home on Saturday.

LOGAN ROSS – LOSSIEMOUTH

Goalkeeper Logan Ross has re-joined Highland League outfit Lossiemouth on loan for the 2022/23 campaign, having turned out for the Coasters 32 times last season in all competitions.

It’s been a difficult opening few weeks for the Coasters with no points to show for their efforts as yet, but things would be tougher still as they faced Buckie Thistle at Grant Park.

Goalkeeper Ross was a busy man throughout the afternoon as the Jags smashed six past a hapless Lossiemouth on an overcast afternoon in Moray. Ross played a full 90 minutes and in reality kept the score-line down. Ross is next in action next weekend when they host Fraserburgh.

RYAN MACLEMAN – Forres Mechanics

18-year old midfielder Ryan Macleman signed his first professional contract with the Staggies in the summer of 2021 and after picking up experience in the Highland league last term, has joined Forres Mechanics.

Following a decent start to the campaign, Forres continued to their next match away to Nairn County in the Highland League. It would prove to be a fruitful afternoon for the Cans who smashed five past County as MacLeman played a full 90 minutes and thought he’d scored his first goal for the club on ten minutes, but the flag was raised for offside. MacLeman came close on two more occasions having had an effort saved well by the ‘keeper before a header smashed the crossbar.

CONNALL EWAN – Forres Mechanics

Connall Ewan joined Forres on loan - the first of his career – during the summer at the age of 16. Ewan had an afternoon to remember in Nairn when he grabbed his first senior goal on 33 minutes. A corner came in and Ewan thumped the header home. It was a goal to add to a sensational defensive display from the youngster.

The Cans are next in action at Inverurie Loco Works on Saturday.
