MATCH PREVIEW | Hibernian v Ross County

06/11/2022

Ross County travel to Easter Road this Tuesday evening on the back of a dramatic 3-2 win over St Mirren this weekend.

Malky & his team will be looking to build on Saturday’s 3 points as we have just two games left before the World Cup break.

TEAM NEWS

County will have the same group to pick from as was available on Saturday. Jack Baldwin will face a race to be fit for the match and will be assessed in the 48 hours leading to the fixture.

Aside from Baldwin, County will remain without the same batch of first team players- Connor Randall, Alex Samuel, Ben Purrington, Ben Paton & Ross Callachan.

Malky will be left with some selection headaches after positive performances from everybody who took to the pitch at the weekend.

TALE OF THE TAPE

So far this season there has been just one meeting between the two sides which resulted in a 2-0 win for Hibernian at the Global Energy Stadium just a few short weeks ago.

Second half goals from Ryan Porteous and Martin Boyle sealed the three points for the Leith outfit, which County will be looking to avenge on Tuesday night.

County pick up a win a season against Hibernian on average, if this season is to follow the last three campaigns. A 1-0-win last season thanks to a Blair Spittal strike in the second half at the Global Energy Stadium. The season prior it was a 2-0 win at Easter Road on 30th December under the stewardship of John Hughes as goals from Harry Paton & Oli Shaw saw three points come back up the A9. In the 2019/20 season it was a 2-1 win for County in Dingwall for Steven Ferguson & Stuart Kettlewell against Jack Ross’ Hibernian side- two second half Ross Stewart goals cancelling out Christian Doidge’s first half opener.

THE OPPOSITION

Lee Johnson has set the foundations of a very strong campaign for Hibernian in the early stages of the season. The Easter Road side, at the time of writing, sit in fourth place on the cinch Premiership table after six wins, two draws and six defeats from their opening fourteen fixtures.

There is no doubting that Hibs will be looking to get back on track after a heavy 4-1 defeat at Pittodrie on Friday evening. That defeat makes it 1 win in 5 leagues games for Lee Johnson’s side.

In the early stages of the season the return of Martin Boyle has been a contributing factor to the rise of Hibernian up the table. The talisman has shown some strong performances since returning to the club, whilst new signing Mykola Kukharevych has also started to find the back of the net- with three goals in his last 3 outings.
