RCFCTV to close after two successful seasons

28/07/2022

Ross County FC can today announce the closure of RCFCTV following two successful years of broadcasting.

Firstly, we would like to thank the league’s host broadcaster Sky Sports for allowing us to provide coverage through RCFCTV during the COVID-19 pandemic- and giving us the opportunity to not only provide Virtual Season Tickets but also to showcase matches on PPV.

With the return to normality and having supporters back in stadiums, the financial feasibility of keeping RCFCTV running on a commentary only basis is not something we are able to sustain. We noticed last season with the return of supporters, that our Pay-Per-View figures were down significantly which again impacts the financial sustainability of the channel. The factor that further contributes to this is the re-instatement of the Blocked Hours rule which means Saturday afternoon 3.00pm kick off's are not eligible for any form of streaming going forward within the UK & Ireland.

We would like to thank our streaming and production partners, Stream Digital & QTV, in addition to our talented team of professionals- Stefanie Smith, Rory Hamilton, Stephen Craigan, Jamie Lyall and Andy Barge. We also extend our thanks to the many guests that joined us- Michael Stewart, Richie Hart, Shelley Kerr, Billy Ferries, Jackie McNamara, John Hartson, Mark Hateley, Steven Mackay, Paul Lawson and many more.

Ross County’s Media & Communications Manager, Dale Pryde-MacDonald said, “For two years we have provided a top-level club TV Channel and that is thanks to the hard work of the football club and our partners. Sky Sports giving us the ability to stream during the pandemic was a massive success across Scottish Football and we extend our thanks to them for allowing us the opportunity.”

“It had become clear over the latter stages of 2021/22 that the sustainability going forward was going to be a real challenge with virtual audiences decreasing, stadiums filling up again and the re-introduction of blocked hours.”

“As a club, we would like to extend our thanks to the Ross County supporters who tuned in, the supporters of other Premiership clubs that purchased Pay-Per-View and to all of our partners and talent that made RCFCTV a truly unique and exciting project for everybody involved.”
